Laser-light show expands storytelling

'Legends in Light' multimedia
program celebrates rich history, cultural diversity

Crazy Horse Memorial is dedicated to honoring North American Indians and to telling their "epic" story – day and night.

From the Memorial Day weekend through Native American Day in
mid-October, the world's largest mountain carving in progress lights
up nightly at dark with "Legends in Light," the multimedia laser-light show.

Set to a stirring musical score, the outdoor program shows off dramatic animated images created by laser beams, giant slide projectors and banks of colored floodlights. The program can be see and heard throughout the Memorial visitor complex.

"Legends in Light" dramatizes the story of the Native Americans' rich heritage, living culture and contributions to society. The goal of the program, as well as the memorial, is to spotlight our cultural diversity and similarities, and encourage harmony and understanding between people and nations.

The 2008 season runs from May 23 through Oct. 13. Visitors who tour the Memorial complex during the day may get a pass to see that evening's laser-light show. Or, you may attend "Legends in Light" and get a pass to tour the Memorial the next day.
