at Crazy Horse Memorial

One of the key purposes of Crazy Horse Memorial is education.

When sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski accepted the invitation of some Native American leaders  to carve a mountain memorial, he envisioned a humanitarian project ... that Crazy Horse would be much more than "just" a colossal mountain carving. It also would tell present and future generations the story of Native American people by collecting and preserving outstanding examples of Indian culture and heritage -- both yesterday and today -- and, ultimately, the Memorial also would create a formal educational institution.

Crazy Horse Memorial holds many programs and events each year to further these educational and cultural goals.
